Topic: The Importance of Understanding Emotions Class
For our final class in this series, we will step back to take a wider perspective to discuss how important understanding emotions is. You need to understand their meaning in order to identify your own values at stake in a given situation. You need to understand their causes in order to ensure you filter out irrational elements. You need to understand their intensity to be sure you've gotten to the deepest values at stake.
If you do all of this, you automatically become value-oriented, and rational action becomes easier and more effective. All of your goals are achieved sooner and with less effort. We will discuss how this approach to emotions helps you change mistaken premises, dissolve anti-values, rehabilitate defense values, and build authentic self-esteem.
You will need the OFNR Quick Reference sheet.
