Topic: Self-Esteem, Pseudo-Self-Esteem, and Esteeming Oneself
Ayn Rand calls self-esteem one of the "three supreme and ruling values." It is certainly necessary for a happy life. She points out that you cannot avoid the need for self-esteem. If you lack it in some area, you will substitute some concrete for it, creating a source of pseudo-self-esteem such as a defense value. How do you integrate your sense of self around authentic values, eliminating over time any sources of pseudo-self-esteem? In this class, we'll discuss the challenges and the essential process: an objective process for esteeming oneself.
