Topic: Best Practices in Making Decisions

Often people judge a decision by its results. When they don't like how the decision turned out, they say it was a bad decision. In this class, I'll argue that the whole approach is misguided. If you judge decisions based solely on results, you never develop a process that can handle risk. You never improve your process, because you cannot distinguish what is under your control from what is not.

What you need are "best practices" that guide your decisions and engender trust in them. In this class, I'll share best practices for decision-making, and how they ensure that you can make timely decisions that result either in the desired outcome or in immediately valuable information.

In class, we'll do a short prioritization exercise.
