Topic: Motivations Principles and Practice, Session 3
Contrast with Competing Theories
I have had several major insights this summer on topics ranging from what is a valid purpose, how you activate self-esteem, what it means to embrace reality, and how you manufacture urgency. I am organizing these into a new mini-course, which will take at least two longer sessions in the Thinking Lab with plenty of time for questions.
I see this as putting together all of the theory of motivation I've been developing with the tools available in the Thinking Lab. Expect formal presentations rather than in-class exercises. But as usual, there will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and see how the ideas apply to your life.
In Session 1, I shared the Self-Direction Method. In Session 2, I explained my theory of the "reactive subconscious." In Session 3, I will contrast my view with competing theories, and see how this affects practice.
