Topic: Owning Your Life
The key to being happy is taking complete ownership of your life. Everything under your control, you manage based on values. Everything out of your control, you treat as neutral terrain in which you operate to achieve your goals. The obstacle many people face in adopting this approach is that they want to control things that they simply don't have power to control, at least not directly. This is typically motivated by fear, and always leads to failure. Trying to control what you can't control perpetuates frustration and feeds self-doubt.
In this class, we will discuss:
-What you can control and what you can't
-The only practical way to influence people
-The only practical way to cope with circumstances that you wish were different than they are
-How time spent mourning what is not under your control helps you take ownership of your life
-What to do about old baggage that makes you want to control what you can't
