The Thinking Lab - All about Anti-Values - for Members
August 24, 2021 –
Topic: All about Anti-Values
I started using the term "anti-value" for a specific psychological phenomenon in early 2019. In contrast with most neologisms, this one has huge explanatory power, and I believe it's a keeper. In this class, I will explain this important idea and how to use it to help you grow. We will discuss:
- What anti-values are
- How they form
- How you discover them in your psychology
- What to do to dissolve them
- Why you shouldn't make war on them
We may get into my radical ideas for what this means for mental health. The short version: With this understanding of anti-values, it is easier and faster to improve one's mental health than most people think, including most psychologists.
Optional preparation for the class: Review the class on "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Values but Were Afraid to Ask."
Please bring the handouts from that class: "How Motivation Forms" & "Emotions & Values Summary Sheet"
