Topic: Dealing with Self-Criticism
In the Thinking Lab you learn many tactics to help you stay focused on values and take action that serves your life. At the core is a new approach to evaluating yourself without self-recriminations. In this class, we'll discuss:
-Why self-criticism feeds a vicious cycle
-The just approach to evaluating one's own mistakes, irrational thoughts, and destructive motivation
-How to transform self-recriminations into constructive action
As preparation for this class, please do the following exercise:
Name three strengths of yours
Name three weaknesses of yours
Come up with one recent example in which you criticized yourself. What happened? Was your criticism justified? What was the result of your criticizing yourself.
