The Thinking Lab - Goal-Setting 101 - for Members
November 24, 2020 –
Topic: Goal-Setting 101
One of the benefits of having Lin Zinser coach Thinking Lab members is that she is helping identify gaps in the materials on the Thinking Lab site. I developed considerable material on goal-setting a few years ago, which we are organizing into a new mini-course on the topic.
In this class, I explain the basics of goal-setting as an overview for the new mini-course. We will discuss:
- Why set goals
- What errors to avoid
- Different kinds of goals to set
- How well-formed goals consistently motivate action
- How strategically chosen goals reduce overload rather than create it
Before you start listening, come up with a blob of work that needs to be organized by goals. In this class and the overflow session next week, we sort out the issues on Thinking Lab member cases.
